JoAnn was a valued and loved member of McCurtain Memorial Hospitals Lady Auxiliary. She volunteered her time up until her passing on January 16, 2024.

Upon retirement in 2011 from a 36-year career where she served her beloved community in the McCurtain County Treasurers Office, she began volunteering for the McCurtain Memorial Hospital’s Ladies Auxiliary.  She had a true passion and commitment to serving others, volunteering over 7,000 hours of her time to McCurtain Memorial Hospital. She also helped organize and prepare for the events for the Relay for Life and was also a member of the McCurtain County Historical Society.  She never wanted recognition for anything she contributed.  She just loved serving people.

JoAnn was described as a very private person.  Even in her times of struggle, she would say “I’m fine” or “I’m okay”.  Despite always being fine or okay, she had a passion for helping others.

JoAnn approached each day with dedication and enthusiasm. Her presence filled our quite halls with infectious warmth and her quick-witted nature brought laughter and joy. She had a remarkable ability to uplift those around her, offering listening ear, a supportive word or a comforting smile in times of need.

In our hearts JoAnn will forever remain a cherished friend and colleague. May her memory inspire us to emulate her kindness, resilience and unwavering commitment to make the world a better place.
