Sawheny Joins MMH Clinics as Supervising MD

CEO Brian Whitfield announced on Thursday that Dr. Nitin Sawheny will be joining the satellite clinics owned and operated by MMH effective October 1.

Dr. Sawheny will supervise the Nurse Practitioners in our clinics as well as see patients half-days when he provides hospitalist coverage at the Hospital.

Dr. Sawheny has been blessed with the opportunity to come serve the Idabel community since 2020 intermittently, He became fond of the beautiful area and recently decided to commit as a Physician employee at McCurtain Memorial Hospital and Clinics.

He has two beautiful princesses which he adores tremendously, Kyra - 13 years old and Zoey - 8. In his free time he loves to travel, bicycle, and workout.

Dr. Sawheny completed his training in Internal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma. He started his career as a staff Hospitalist at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. He quickly demonstrated his excellent patient satisfaction scores and was asked to lead the Hospitalist Team. In his tenure at Mercy Hospital as the medical director, the Hospitalist team tripled and he helped develop their Telehospitalist program. He worked with Mercy until 2015 and went on to join TEAMhealth as the Regional Medical director where he was in charge of 12-15 Hospitalist teams (100+ Physicians) between Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Nevada. He continued to excel in patient care with his clinical expertise, and helped lead his team with skills in Telehealth, Patient satisfaction, consultant services, lean management, Physician relations, and Healthcare information technology (HIT).

He looks forward to servicing the Idabel, Hochatown and Broken Bow communities in the clinic with chronic disease management, with expertise in hypertension, diabetes, CAD, and CHF management. He also looks forward to helping develop the hospitalist program at McCurtain Memorial Hospital.

As Director of MedSurg, Lane Manginell works with Sawheny regularly.

Dr. Sawheny will begin supervising all Nurse Practitioners in the clinics, effective October 1, 2022.
