A lot has changed over the course of a half-century at McCurtain Memorial Hospital but one thing has not: AJ Young.
On Monday, Mr. Young celebrated forty-eight years with the hospital. At just 17-years-old, AJ started at the hospital when it was located on Avenue N in Idabel as a housekeeper in 1974.
AJ worked in lawn care and materials management before landing in the maintenance department. Over the years, AJ trained staff who came and went. In 1989, AJ received his Oklahoma State Mechanical Journeyman License.
Well known for his smile and interaction with patients and guest, AJ is loved throughout the hospital and community. AJ has been instrumental in keeping things together at the aging campus, especially old equipment and infrastructure.
A father of two, Regina and Alvin, Jr., AJ is also the grandfather to 5 grandkids and 2 great-grandkids. MMH is honored to have such a tenured employee who truly loves what he is doing.
AJ was presented with cake and punch today with the hospitals entire leadership team along with a gift card. The staff at MMH look forward to working with AJ for years to come.
