Charlie Johnson returns to MMH as ER Director

No matter who you ask, the nursing staff at McCurtain Memorial Hospital agree, Charlie Johnson is a good fit as Director of Emergency Services. On Sunday, McCurtain Memorial Hospitals’ administration announced they had taken note and hired Johnson back full time.

From DeQueen, Arkansas, Charlie is married to her husband, Kelsey, and together they have 3 children: Aubri, Ben and Shooter.

Charlie has been in healthcare for over 15 years, working her way up through LPN school shortly after graduating high school Charlie went on to obtain her RN license in 2011 and obtained her BSN from the University of Arkansas in 2017.

Charlie was recently accepted into Grad School at the University of Arkansas where she will be working towards her Masters in Nursing Leadership and Education. Charlie has been working in Emergency Medicine for more than 10 years. Charlie oversaw the ER Department at MMH as ER Director at from January 2021 until January 2022.

Charlie said, “I am very pleased to be back in this role. As my staffs leader, I strive to make sure that each one of them is fully trained and prepared to handle any situation, for them to also take the pride in knowing that they are the ones that the people of the community can trust when they come to our ER needing care.“

Chief Nursing Officer, Dustin Leonard said, “When I was considering the right fit for the ER Department, it was hands-down, Charlie.” He went on to say, “This is someone that our nurses trust and have confidence in.”

Charlie returned on Friday, February 25.
