On Thursday, March 24, 2022, the McCurtain County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) held a meeting to discuss, among other things, the Hospital. A member of the Hospital Authority Board and members of the McCurtain Memorial Medical Management, Inc board were present - along with a guest speaker and several MMH staff.
Extensive debate and discussion was held wherein the BOCC and MMMM, Inc discussed future plans for the hospital. From the beginning of the proceedings, all BOCC members stressed that rumors of the hospital closing simply are not true and that the hospital will remain open. Additionally, BOCC member, Jimmy Westbrook, noted that he has every intention of working towards the construction of a new facility and other BOCC members second that notion.
We are pleased to report that all parties have agreed there will be a 7-year lease drafted and signed before the expiration of the current lease set to expire on December 1, 2022. All parties agreed to work together in the drafting of that new lease.
We are excited to see progress that secures the hospital's future.
